My History

Life is indeed a journey, filled with twists, turns and unexpected destinations. In my earlier years, creative arts, architecture and music were my passions, fueling my curiosity, motivating me to get my hands dirty and truly experience the world. With this intention, I crafted my life path around these interests, each playing a part in defining who I am as a person and ultimately as a design professional.

Graduating from Southern Oregon University with a B.S. in Digital Arts, my studies brought me to the intersection of technology and design, right at the dawn of the consumer Internet. A secondary focus in psychology complimented my design education, aligning perfectly with emerging opportunities in a brand new field of “web design”.

Throughout my career, I’ve enjoyed leading many talented UX strategists, designers and researchers, in partnership with a wide range of digital product and service businesses, from startups to Fortune 100 companies. I’ve worked both on staff and as an independent consultant, spending the last 12 years as co-founder of ZENxd, a distributed experience design collective based in Santa Cruz, California.
